Directed by Ariel Dougherty and Carol Clement, SURVIVA is the last film produced under the banner of a "Women Make Movies production." This short narrative is structured in a wishful-filmmaking or “fanumentary” genre. In the film, rural women artists portraying themselves unite as they face the issues of making, defining, and showing their art in the male-dominated art world. This refreshing weave of footage richly combines animation, nature shots and live action into a powerful story of actualization.
