Ancestral Secrets. Keepers of Indigenous Medicine, Ep. 02 - In the Extreme South of America

View on the Pragda STREAM site

Chile is a land of contrasts. Its diversity has made it fertile ground for the cultivation of Indigenous feminine medicine.

On Easter Island, preparations begin for the Tapati Festival. For the first time in decades, the island is closed to tourists due to the pandemic, allowing the celebration to take place intimately, with the camera as the only witness. Nua Ika Pakarati descends into the Rano Kau volcano to collect Matu’a pua’a, an endangered fern only found there.

Meanwhile, the Pewenche community resists time to protect their sacred tree, the Araucaria. This is a story of the survival of women’s medicine.

Series Description

Twelve Indigenous communities across the Americas open the doors to medicinal rituals they have kept secret for centuries. They share sacred knowledge that, unlike the modern pharmaceutical industry, does not seek to cure disease but to preserve health.
This series offers a provocative perspective on nature, medicine, trance, and our understanding of well-being.
