Ancestral Secrets. Keepers of Indigenous Medicine, Ep. 06 - North America

View on the Pragda STREAM site

North America is a harsh territory, where the sun shows no mercy over deserts divided by contested borders. Yet Indigenous communities have survived, preserving their rituals in secrecy.

Each year in Tecate a ceremony celebrates the Spring Equinox. Laurie French crosses the U.S-Mexico border to reunite with her siblings for the ritual. In Mexico, one of the continent’s oldest cultures prepares to celebrate the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Both stories converge in the Temazcal, a ritual of purification inside a dark sweat lodge. The space is transformed, cleansing both body and spirit.

Series Description

Twelve Indigenous communities across the Americas open the doors to medicinal rituals they have kept secret for centuries. They share sacred knowledge that, unlike the modern pharmaceutical industry, does not seek to cure disease but to preserve health.
This series offers a provocative perspective on nature, medicine, trance, and our understanding of well-being.
